Alright, first day home get to take it out and man oh man. It feels like it was a long time coming. My father did some carb work on the engine and now it turns over on the first time and no more high idle. Also found out this terrible screeching noise was the alternator belt slipping. So got that fixed tonight and this Wednesday if any STL oppo's wants to come out to the Dandy INN in Fairview Heights, IL this Wednesday to their car cruise I would love to hang out and chat! Also I will be referring to the Torino as GTS some times in comments because that's what it really is Gran Torino Sport.
Don't have any recent pics of the car that are super good but here is the car and its glory!

Alton Marina in Alton ,IL I;m gonna go back some time soon and try to get a better one. Hopefully the sun will play nice like it did in that photo.

Now I'm missing my old '72 Gran Torino. It was an ugly green and not nearly as photogenic as your '73 but it was my first (car) love. It started life as a 351W which was toast when my parents gave it to me. It was the old "if you can get it running you can have it" thing. I bought a junkyard 400 out of a station wagon and was set. It was still puke green, though.

You have an awesome example of that year's Torinos right there. Congrats on all of your efforts in resto and preservation. Back in the day I had a 1970, 429 CJ Torino and I wish I had had the wherewithal and good sense to keep it.

I can handle that, but it does not appear to be a CJ car like I hoped it was, so my interest has fallen off considerably. I'll contact them tomorrow for more info, but I'm almost positive that it's not what I would want.

No I was just agreeing with you that a full photo would have been better by the bridge. But it's still my favorite picture on here. Cars got great lines and I love the stripe. I don't know how shit gone in that sentence. I look at Oppo a lot on my phone and my phone must have autocorrected.
